His story featured Buzz Lightyear being recalled and sent back to the factory in Taiwan and the rest of the toys trying to rescue him. It was rejected in favor of a script by Jim Herzfeld, a writer who’d done some direct-to-video and TV work for Disney. Bill and Cheri Steinkellner, writers on the Disney animated show Teacher’s Pet, wrote a script about Woody, Buzz and the gang investigating the disappearance of toys from Andy’s grandmother’s attic.
